Our story

Two decades of community-centred development.

RAFIKI Social Development Organization (RAFIKI-SDO) is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization established in 2005 and headquartered in Shinyanga. Its work has grown from a local movement for social transformation into multi-region programme implementation focused on rights, services and opportunity.

RAFIKI-SDO designs and implements programmes that improve access to education, health services, child protection, economic opportunities and social wellbeing. Its approach combines community engagement with partnerships, systems strengthening and evidence.

“What matters is not a distance but the first step.”
